Okay...so all this "immigrant" stuff is really bugging me. These are not immigrants; these are illegal aliens to our country. As I was watching the news with Tom about all their protests I was really bugging. This lady Mariann Davies, daughter of legal immigrants to this country, is part of the coalition group "You don't speak for me". She was discussing all this stuff on the Lou Dobbs show. She was saying how these illegal immigrants don't have the right to be demanding anything from this country. She who was born here after her parents came here legally. I don't think that all these people should be given amnesty. I think like all the others you have to wait your turn.

I think the thing being lost here is these people are here ILLEGALLY and that isn't fair to the people who are here LEGALLY. I also think if you are living here then you need to be learning English, be assimilated into our culture. Don't take from it and not give anything back. I don't agree with the state department web page having 4 different Spanish versions of the Star Spangled Banner on their webpage. It should be sung in ENGLISH only. This is America where our national language is; guess what, ENGLISH not Spanish! I don't have a problem with people who speak Spanish or are Hispanic. I have a problem with these people who come here as illegal immigrants, don't speak English, don't pay taxes because they are working illegally, use our healthcare facilities and then leave the rest of us to pick up their bills. Lately, and this might seem like a bit of a stereotype...thanks to recent to ER visits most of who I see in the ER waiting room are Spanish speaking folk who are using the ER as their primary healthcare area.

I also don't believe in all jazz about them working all the jobs that Americans won't. The only reason Americans wouldn't is because of the pay scale and being paid under the table. I think if you are hiring illegal immigrants you should be punished, fined or even thrown in jail. Encouraging them to come to America illegally by hiring illegal immigrants isn't right. Every job I have ever had has been a minimum wage job (maybe a little bit above) and you know what? I work them; I am currently employed by McDonalds. Legalized Americans will work these jobs, not for a less then minimum wage or under the table because we have taxes to pay.

I think that the government should take a look at the outdated immigration laws and reform them. I don't think that it is okay to be illegally and I am not in support of these people marching. I agree with Maryann, illegal immigrants don't have the right to demand stuff from us and our government.

What a day! I got up early and went to the gym (haven't been there in FOREVER!). I have an annual membership for a locker so that I dont have to drag all of my shower junk with me all the time. Silly me, I misplaced the sheet with the combination on it and when I asked the not-too-helpful employees at the gym for help they told me that I couldn't go my locker combo because all of the year memberships are upstairs in the office. I was like whatever! I worked out for two very nice hours and then showered. I walked across campus to the music school and practiced for a couple of hours and then went to Jonathan's organ concert. He did an excellent job! He played one of my favorite works for the organ, the chimes of westminster by Vierne. After his concert I hopped the bus and came back to the apartment. Lillian was home when I got here and took me to dinner and then I walked up to Thomas's store to get my house keys back. I got to go on a short delivery with him and then he dropped me off at my place. I then practice my flute for a little while and well...here I am now...writing a REALLY short updated journal entry.

Oh yeah! Tom and I are going to be Ushering for the Nutcracker performance on friday! MUHAHAHA!!!!!! I knew he would go in the end! Too many football games I was forced to watch (hand dramatically to forehead) with no exchange......I have the last laugh of the season! Muhahahahahahahahahaha!!!

The Princess Bride
I'm sure it's no big surprise to you that your
romance is The Princess Bride. A heartwarming
tale of "Twue Wuve" that has giants,
Spainards and swashbuckling. You really do
think that love can overcome anything. You may
be a touch naive but your heart is certainly in
the right place. You've probably got one of
those relationships where proper nouns have
been replaced with "Snookums" and
"Pookie Pie". Eww. Beware a cuteness
overload.

Okay so the beat goes on...without me. I feel like I am going to go crazy if I haven't already. Last weekend I went to Disney with Tom, Dawn and Kenny and it was alot of fun (more on this later) ut when I came back monday night my problems began. Tom and I got home that night after a long and interesting drive through patches of Hurricane Wilma. We walk into my kitchen and hear this very loud squeaking noise. I was like knock it off Tom. He denied making any noises. These awful noises continued and I was really convinced that it was him. Finally we both stopped talking and listened...they were coming from behind the fridge! I ran to the hall closet and got a flash light. Thomas checked behind the fridge and said he saw a BIG UGLY RAT!!!! I was not too happy! He moved the fridge and the ugly thing scurried across the floor and under the kitchen cabinets on the opposite wall. Of-course by this point I was just about screaming from my safe haven on the back of the couch. Needless to say I did not stay here that night. That was the first encounter.

Tuesday morning I went to school and did my thing there. I had a research paper to finish that night so I stayed at school later and then Thomas picked me up from school. We came back to the apartment and could hear those disgusting things running around the kitchen. I was like whatever, as long as I don't see them I am sort-of okay. I tried to finish my research paper but could not open the word file that I had emailed myself from school. I emailed it to my teacher anyhow and it came back to me as undeliverable. I didn't stay here tuesday night either.

Wednesday morning I had an appointment with the pest control company at 10:00 so I came over to the apartment. I showed the pest controlman the rat terds everywhere and we chatted about my options for a little it, he did his spraying and then he left. I stayed here a little it to finish packing so clothes so that I could stay at my friend Julia's apartment with Lillian. I also spent 4 hours on the phone with the various branches of the state/county/city health departments. That was purely unproductive until I got the phone number for the board of code. I called them twice requesting an agent to come and do a formal investigation on our apartment. That afternoon we went to Student legal services in the union to obtain a lawyer. Lilly called and made an appointment for one of the Lawyer's on the list and tht was that. We went to the UF flute professor's recital that night and then we went to Julia's and crashed in bed.

Thursday morning the only time that Lillian and I could meet with the selected Lawyer was 10:00...right in the middle of one of my classes. The lawyer was running late because he got tied up at court. When he finally could see us (at 10:45) things went well. He called our landlord and left her a message. He was like "This is Attorney Don Pumphrey jr...". He has the most AWESOME voice...very intimidating. He told us that he would give use his services free of charge and do all things necessary for us to make our court case, but that he would not litigate. He said that we should go to the law school and get a copy of the Florida statutes and read chapter 83 and then go to small claims court ad pick up a letter of non-compliance. After the meeting, we went and looked at an apartment. It was really pretty dumpy, so we opted for a big "NO" on that one. We then headed downtown for lunch and then to the courthouse across from the capital. We ended up having to drive across town to get to small claims court. The lady there was very grouchy. We left there and went to school for our flute lessons. I got there and my teacher was like I need to reschedule. I said that was fine and then I headed to the music school computer lab. Thirty-six pages later I had printed the earlier mentioned chapter for "fun-time" reading on Landlord/Tenant rights. My landlord called me and was like "I'm really confused about why there is a lawyer calling me on behalf of you guys..", gee I wonder why that could be? Could it be the lack of problem fixing in the six months that we have been living here? No...YOU THINK?! I called her back that night and told her that we are really unhappy and want out of the lease. I stayed at Julia's.

Friday morning Lillian and I called around different apartments, made spare keys to our apartment and then did some other little various things. The lady from the board of code came over and checked out our apartment. A full sheet of violations later she left and recommended that we call the growth management department and have them come and check the place out. She said that we could call the board of code this week and request a copy of of case file. I hadn't seen Tom for 2 days and he was getting really moody. I told him that I missed him and he was like that's nice. That really hurt me. I didn't know what was going on with him because he wouldn't talk to me about whatever the problem was. We went shopping for Halloween costumes. I pieced together a really fun little costume and Julia did the test run on my make-up. It looked totally awesome! I stayed at Julia's friday night.

Saturday morning I woke up really early and Julia and I were supposed to meet Lillian across town to look at a townhouse but on the way over my landlord called and said that her mom and dad were going to be coming over to our apartment at 10:30. Julia and I hightailed it over to her boyfriend Andrew's to borrow his digital camera. We came to the apartment and took picture of all of the violations of the apartment. Her parents came over and brought these high-pitch noise makers that you plug into the electric outlets to "drive pests away". The dad asked me where the plugs are in the kitchen and I was like one on the side of the fridge and one behind the stove. He goes in the kitchen and shifts the fridge around to plug one of the noise makers in and promptly drops it behind the fridge. He grabs a broom handle and starts trying to fish it out from behind the fridge and as he is doing this a big, ugly rat scurries out from underneath the fridge. I screamed and jumped on the couch, giving him a heartattack. SIX rats later, I was done being in the apartment for the day and so were they. They left and so did julia and I. Julia and I then went shopping for the few things left for my halloween costume for Lisa's party that night and then we went home and took a nap at her place. After nap time, she did my make-up and then left for Andrew's recital. I practiced my flute until Lillian picked me up and dropped me off at the party. Tom was supposed to come over after he got off work but it was 1:00 a.m. and he still wasn't there. I was kind-of upset because his other employees were there and chatting with me but he wasn't. Finally he comes over and wasn't too happy. We had a little spat on the front lawn of the house and I basically told him to get over it. I said that I was sorry that he was upset over not having seen me but that I had been having a really sucky week! I had a alot of stuff on my mind and I am not a mind-reader! I am not able to guess what every little problem he has is. We got over it and then went into the house for a little bit. When I had had enough to drink and was STARVING we left and went to get some breakfast. We drove to the village inn at like 2:00 a.m. and had some nasty breakfast. We went back to his apartment for the night and passed out from exhaustion.

Yesterday morning we woke up and starting getting ready because we were supposed to meet his dad for lunch because it was his birthday. His dad calls and says he is like an hour away from town so I set to work cleaning up the kitchen. About an hour and a half later there is a knock on the door. Tom was in the shower so I open it. There was a rather well dressed, older gentleman standing on the front step. He smiles and says "is tom here?" I just sort-of gaped, shocked and was like he's in the shower. He said "you must be Amy" and I was still sort-of gaping as I nodded. I didn't know that he was coming over, I assumed we were meeting him at the restaurant. He started chatting and then Tom finally came out of the bedroom. We went to the Olive Garden for lunch where we all had the Tour of Italy. It was very nice...I will say there is nothing more fun for me then to spend my meal time chatting about politics and sports...my two favorite things. :::::sarcasm::::: After his dad left, Tom and I hung out for a bit before he dropped me off at my apartment. I took a nap because I have been stress sick all week and not sleeping too well. Lillian convinced me to go the 6 p.m. mass with her because she said that it would make me feel better. It really didn't. We came back home and then she dropped me off at Lisa's where we waited for one of Tom's other manager's to come and get us to go and get the cake for Tom's surprise birthday party. It went off very well and Tom was very pleased. I ended up staying up at the store with Tom, Lisa and the two closing drivers until almost 1 this morning. After we got done there Lisa, Tom and I went to get some food and then went home and we all crashed.

My cell phone has been ringing off the hook today. It's making me crazy. I am trying to wash my laundry because I have no clean clothes to wear. I am going to walk to publix for my lunch because I have no food here. Tom and I are doing much better now that we spent some time together. I missed him alot. Well, my brain is fried...maybe I'll write some more details later. Aufwiedersehen!

Okay so...Another weekend is gone and I don't feel any better then last week. Last night I fell asleep at tom's apartment. I woke up this morning not feeling too well. Anyhow...I got up and washed my face and we left so that he could take me home before he had to go to work. The ride from his place to mine can't be anymore then 15 minutes but as I go closer to my apartment I just kept feelings even worse. Tom was trying to ask me about the reception that I worked last night but I felt really annoyed that he was even talking to me. I then realized that my sugar had to be low. Sure enough, big surprise, my lips were a nice shade of blue. I felt like I wanted to vomit in his car. He flew back to my place and ran ahead of me up the stairs to get me juice. After I had some juice in my system I was still shaking pretty hard and crying, Tom just hugged me and stayed with me till I settled down. He's so sweet, he really is. I made him late for work this morning. And my doctor tells me "no you don't have sugar problems, you have acute stress disorder". Dumb Jerk.

Last night I went to dinner with Julia at On the Border. I haven't been out with her for a little while and it was alot of fun. Lilly couldn't go because she had to work on her homework for her experimental research in music class. Yesterday afternoon I was supposed to go to Harp class at 5 (on a sunday...fun) but I ended up working the reception which the flute club donated to Vanya's husbands memorial concert. It was a really nice reception. Poor Vanya, she's handling it pretty well but we (the girls group-me, Lilly, Sarah, and Julia) think that she needs to get out a little more then she does. Whenever we get together we are going to be inviting her along. She came over when we were all at sarah 2 weeks ago and she really seemed to enjoy herself.

The mouse situation isn't fixing itself. Miss. kitty cat Faye hasn't down her job of catching the mouse yet. So far what she managed to do it claw me, Lilly, Tom and Julia, stink up the bathroom with her kitty poopy, track kitty liter around the house and climb up onto everything including my fish tank. She's going to go back downstairs today because I can't deal with it anymore. Tom will be broken-hearted i'm sure.

I'm going to go and take a shower since I have to leave for school here in a little bit to practice the organ and then meet Miss Sarah for the usual monday afternoon lunch.
